    ЛОБОВОЙ УДАР :: Во фронтальном краш-тесте подушки безопасности сработали слишком поздно из-за отсутствия сигнала датчика перед столкновением. Toyota переработала проводку к датчику и модифицировала программное обеспечение устройства управления так, чтобы подушка срабатывала раньше в случае проблемы разъединения контактов датчика столкновения. 1)The equipment grade tested is marketed as Sol, VX and XT4 in different European countries. You should check with your dealer to ensure that your car has the equipment you require.

2)The RAV4 is manufactured in two plants, denoted in the chassis number by a 5 or a 6 (highlighted). The numbers following the plant code indicate the chassis numbers from which the modifications were introduced.
    SEATBELT REMINDER :: The RAV4 has a seatbelt reminder system for the front seats only. The system met Euro NCAP's requirements.

    The Toyota RAV4 was redesigned for the 2001 model year, and advanced frontal airbags were added to 2004 models. All RAV4 models manufactured after December 2003 also include structural changes to improve occupant protection in frontal offset crashes (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door).
    The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has evaluated the crashworthiness of a 2004 RAV4 with the structural changes in a 40 mph frontal offset crash test into a deformable barrier.
    A redesigned, larger RAV4 will be introduced late in 2005.

Further structural modifications were made beginning with 2004 models manufactured in January 2004 and later, so these ratings do not apply to the latest models.

However, based on an Institute test of a 2004 RAV4 with side airbags, the structure rating improves to Acceptable for all 2004-05 models.

    Driver - Measures taken from the dummy indicate that rib fractures and/or internal organ injuries as well as a fracture of the pelvis would be likely in a crash of this severity. Serious neck injuries would also be possible.
    Rear passenger - Measures taken from the dummy indicate that a fracture of the pelvis would be possible in a crash of this severity. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low.

Head protection

    Driver - The dummy's head was hit by the intruding barrier. This impact did not produce high head injury measures, but head hits with intruding objects such as other vehicles, trees, and poles should be prevented.
    Rear passenger - The dummy's head was hit by the window sill and glass of the rear passenger door. These impacts did not produce high head injury measures, but the head protection is inadequate.

    Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. There was too much upward movement of the steering wheel. During rebound, the dummy moved toward the driver door, and its head hit the B-pillar. The dummy's right knee also hit a metal flange under the steering column, which punctured the vinyl "skin" at the knee.

Injury measures

    Measures taken from the right leg indicate low risk of injuries to this body region in a crash of this severity. High acceleration occured when the dummy's head hit the B-pillar, indicating that injuries to the head would be possible. Accelerations on the chest indicate that injuries to the chest would be possible. Forces on the left tibia indicate that injury to the lower leg would be likely.
